For Fellows

Fellowship of the Society is only available to those who have been Members of the Society for at least 3 years and can demonstrate significant and recognised achievements in forensic science or a closely related disciplines. Esteemed within their field, those approved as Fellows are entitled to use the post-nominal FCSFS.

Outstanding Service

Fellowship is the most distinguished category of professional membership and is reserved for those individuals whose qualifications and/or experience are considered to be exceptional, and who have made a significant contribution to their relevant area of forensic practice. Over the course of their career, Fellows will have realised a high level of achievement and provided outstanding service to their profession. Applicants must seek to establish in their application their achievements and responsibilities above and beyond that expected of a career professional.

Honorary Fellowships are awarded by Council from time to time and reward those who are deserving of recognition for their work in supporting the profession and the Society.

Experience

Educational

As current Members of the Society, applicants are expected to hold recognised academic qualifications in forensic science.

Occupational

Applicants are expected to have achieved distinction in forensic science and related areas over a significant period, satisfying one or more of the following criteria with regards to operational experience:

  • Extensive and innovative casework experience.
  • Significant contribution to research and development.
  • Significant contribution to policy or practice.
  • Extensive peer recognition.
  • Holding offices of distinction eg, in the Society or other professional bodies, committees etc.
