Regulation

  • Continue to set high professional standards for forensic science and its practitioners.
  • Engage and collaborate with appropriate bodies including Forensic Science Regulator, Home Office, UKAS and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain appropriate panels of assessors.

The Society maintains links with all relevant bodies including Home Office Science Committee, Forensic Science Regulator, UKAS and other relevant regulatory bodies.

Development

  • Provide a scheme of continuing professional development (CPD) for members, in partnership with other bodies.
  • Encourage, and advise, on careers and professional development.
  • Provide the assessment and accreditation of qualifications and training programs.
  • Continue to hold professional conferences, training events and networking opportunities.

Research

  • Providing assistance in the development of forensic science in particular by encouraging casework good practice through targeted events.
  • Supporting validation of techniques and methods by encouraging the publication of research papers.
