Qualifications & Academia
The Society supports and encourages education and learning within the forensic arena through our Educational Quality Standards scheme whereby university courses containing forensic elements can become accredited. Graduates from these courses may become Associates, this is seen as the first step on the ladder to working towards Member and where appropriate to work towards Chartered Forensic Practitioner status.
Professional Development
The Society offers a wide range of professional development opportunities for individuals working in the field. We run regular conferences and events providing an excellent arena for communication collaboration and networking with fellow practitioners, academics and students. It also gives you the chance to development your knowledge and understanding through the high calibre presentations. We also publish a peer reviewed journal Science and Justice dedicated to forensic science, containing high quality cutting edge articles and editorials and meeting reports.
Promoting Professionalism
The Society is an independent professional body committed to promoting ethical practice. We aim to contribute to initiatives that improve quality in forensic science and fully support the Forensic Science Regulator. Our Quality Standards schemes support both academia and those in practice with their quality and competency journeys.
International Forensic Voice
The Society has nearly 4000 members. We are an international body and welcome members from all areas of the world. We work in collaboration with other international forensic societies, such as the California Association of Criminalists and the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and our publication Science and Justice is circulated worldwide. We are a dynamic, forward-looking society, which provides a forensic voice, not only in the UK, but internationally.
