Accreditation
Pre-Application
Prior to an application being submitted, there are two opportunities available to an institution – a pre-application call (free of charge) and a pre-application visit (chargeable).
Please contact the office before submitting an application.
Application
To apply for educational accreditation, you need to complete an application form, plus the Component Standard Matrix for each component standard in which you are seeking educational accreditation.
The core component standard matrix, Interpretation, Evaluation & Presentation of Evidence (IEPE) must be completed and at least one other preferably two other component standards.
Component Standards
The current component standards were reviewed in 2022:-
- Interpretation, Evaluation and Presentation of Evidence (IEPE)
- Laboratory Analysis (LA)
- Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)
- Forensic Anthropology (FAnth)
- Forensic Archaeology (FArch)
The following component standard was only reviewed in 2021:-
- Digital Forensics (DF)

International Educational Certification (IEC)
All institutions outside of the UK and Europe have to apply for International Educational Certification. Further information can be found on the details below, alternatively please email the office.

Please note: All institutions have to nominate 1 person to be the CSFS University Quality Lead Contact (UQL). The UQL must be a Member (Professional) of the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.
