The Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences continues its popular Wednesday webinar series.
Collision Investigation in the Civil Forum – Saying what you really think - Mark Crouch, Head of Investigations & Andrew Slark, Senior Consultant, FCIR Ltd
The burden of proof within the Civil Sector is considered to be lower than in the Criminal Courts, where the factors considered are “on the balance of probability”. On face value it may be tempting to consider a lesser investigation being required, however nothing is further from the truth. Mark and Andy explore the depth of analysis and the results possible in a complete analysis for the Civil forum, where there is more scope for an Expert to use their opinion, and say what they really think happened!
Mark worked for the Metropolitan Police as a Forensic Collision Investigator for many years before forming FCIR. He has conducted investigations into hundreds of road traffic collisions, attending collision scenes, writing detailed reports, peer reviewing the work of others and researching new techniques within the field. He draws on both academic and practical experience in compiling his findings. He is experienced at giving evidence in Court and is accepted as an Expert within his field. He is also a 1st Tier Expert for the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
He prides himself on delivering a high quality product and explaining even the most complex of findings in a straight forward way. Scientific integrity is key to Mark and he commits fully to investigating collisions in an impartial way.
Andrew is a Senior Consultant at FCIR and has nearly 20 years’ experience in the field of Collision Investigation having served as a Traffic Officer within Sussex Police as a full-time Full Collision Investigator with their Serious Collision Investigation Unit. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree with First Class Honours in the field of Collision Investigation, as well as a City and Guilds Qualification in the same. His work in this field has led to him achieving Chartered Forensic Practitioner (Collision) status.
Andrew is a perfectionist with an eye for detail. His methodology is meticulous and his analysis of the facts is always of the highest quality.
