Forensic Cold Case Reviews - An Introduction
Catherine Tuner has been a forensic scientist since 1988, and has attended scenes of crime, presented expert opinion in court, and provided training to others. Over the last eighteen years she has specialised in historic case reviews, and was the National Lead in this area for the Forensic Science Service prior to its closure. Catherine is co-author of the 2005 Home Office ‘Good Practice Guide: Cold Case Reviews of Rape and Serious Sexual Assault’.
In May 2012 Catherine joined Eurofins Forensic Services (formerly LGC Forensics) as a specialist in forensic case reviews, where she continues to promote excellent scientific practice and a partnership ethos as the keys to successful forensic re-investigations.
Catherine was awarded an OBE for her work in this area in 2013, and has received sixteen commendations from within the Criminal Justice System. She was also part of the team nominated for the South Yorkshire Justice Awards 2009.
