Honorary Fellow - Viv Emerson

Viv Emerson, B.Sc., M.Sc., worked for the Home Office Forensic Science Service (H.O.F.S.S.) 1966-1993 holding posts of operational scientist in Cardiff, Head of Information at the Central Research Establishment (C.R.E.), Staff Officer to the Controller in London, Head of Quality Control at C.R.E., and Deputy Director C.R.E., concluding his career at Director of Research in the Forensic Science Agency.
He was one of the scientists responsible for the research into substantive breath alcohol testing and its introduction into U.K. legislation. Past President of the Society and member of the board of the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners.
Viv is a Past Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and also a Chartered Chemist, and after leaving the FSS in 1993 he served as a magistrate in Berkshire for 13 years.
