Professional Background
Marce has been working in the area of Forensic Science since 1990, starting her career at the former Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory and then at the Forensic Science Service London. Since 2001, she has been working as a Senior Lead Forensic Scientist at Forensic Science Ireland (FSI), Dublin.
As a Forensic Science practitioner and expert, her main areas of specialism involve the investigation of serious crimes, particularly in the area of Sexual Assaults. This includes the reporting of DNA, and the Evaluation of Evidence. Over the years, she has reported on many high profile complex cases and has given evidence in the Central Criminal Courts on many case types involving Body Fluids, BPA and Scene Attendance.
She is the current secretary of the Body Fluid Forum; a sub group of the Association Forensic Science Practitioners (AFSP). She also presented at the European Academy of Forensic Science (EAFS) meetings and published several articles relating to Sexual Assaults and Homicides in peer review journals.
She has developed and delivered several training programs for Police Officers, Scenes of Crimes Officers, Forensic Medical Examiners, and more recently Specialist Interviewers and is a guest lecturer at many Irish Universities.
She is the co-author of the 3rd edition of the Irish National Guidelines on Referral and Clinical Examination in Ireland.
CSFS Background
Marce is a Member (MCSFS) of the Society, joining in 1992. She was elected as an Ordinary Member of Council (2011-2014). She has chaired and presented at many society meetings and co- convened the BFF/DNA conference meeting (2015) and over the years has reviewed many books for the Society.
