Pioneers in Crime Scene Science
Teesside University was the first university in the country to offer degrees in Crime Scene Science and Forensic Science. Your lecturers at Teesside University are experienced, respected academics and real life practitioners, meaning you get the best of both worlds - theory and practice.
Truly exceptional facilities
We've collected enough vehicles to fill an entire vehicle laboratory - 5 vehicles under one roof! We simulate a range of crimes, such as vehicle accidents, thefts, hit and run incidents and other situations where a vehicle has been used in commiting a crime. This lets you get hands-on experience practicing your examination techniques.
You get to explore the 30 rooms in our crime scene house. These include replicas of apartments, shops, a nursing home and a bar, as well as the rooms you would find in a normal house. You develop your evidence recovery skills and learn to record your findings correctly.
Our fully-furnished analytical laboratories let you analyse blood, hair and skin samples, to match DNA to scenes of crime, while our digital evidence laboratory provides equivalent opportunities for digital investigations. You can then get first-hand experience of how to present your evidence in our exact replica courtroom.

This is instrumental in keeping our courses at the very forefront of advances in the field, and giving you the best possible chance of a successful career in the field. Here's what one employer had to say about our graduates:
