Press Release - 1st August 2017
After 4 years of working in the Forensic Science and Policing market place, the Forensic and Policing Services Association (FAPSA) has been assimilated into the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences (CSFS) as of 1st August 2017.
We are pleased to, therefore, announce that a new entity operating as the "Small Business Division" has been created to offer a forum that will provide a place for scientists, practitioners and professional service providers to network, collaborate, and obtain advice and guidance on obtaining and maintaining quality standards. The aim is that the focus of the Division will specifically support those working in niche areas, working as Sole Traders (ST) and/or in Micro or Small or Medium Sized Businesses (SME)
Gareth Bryon the outgoing Chair of FAPSA, will become the Chair of the New Small Business Division with immediate effect. He stated "It was the natural progression for FAPSA to become part of CSFS. After 4 years since our inception in 2013 it became apparent that our vision, values and goals were increasingly aligned with those of the CSFS. Our mission of "Success through Collaboration" will now embrace all small businesses operating in the forensic marketplace who are either already members of the society or who have opted to transfer from FAPSA."
Anya Hunt CSFS CEO said "I am extremely excited about the prospects of working with those who have opted to transfer from FAPSA or who join the Small Business Division as we move forward. The CSFS is already committed to working with ST/SMEs in the formation of a supported Generic Quality Management System (GQMS) for accreditation against ISO17020 & 17025. At the very essence of this initiative, managed by our Quality & Competency Manager, David Bellamy, is "Collaboration". I am committed to continue the work that FAPSA started and look forward to working with Gareth as he takes on the role of Chair of the new division. In the coming weeks we will work together to look at hosting our first divisional event (free to members) and also developing new, exciting, relevant web content".
