Professional Background
Peter spent 33 years with the Metropolitan Police Service Directorate of Forensic Services and began his career as a Scene of Crime Officer in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in 1980. Following promotion Peter worked as an operational forensic manager across various London boroughs. As an operational forensic practitioner Peter was involved in the examination of numerous crime scenes, including many relating to homicide, serious crime, and high profile crime investigations. In 1997 Peter was attached to the Metropolitan Police Fingerprint Bureau and successfully completed the training programme to achieve Fingerprint Expert status.
In 2000 following promotion to Forensic Operations Manager Peter assumed responsibility for forensic service delivery to the Murder Command, Operation Trident, Flying Squad, and Child Protection. Peter was part of the management team responsible for introducing and establishing the new Crime Scene Manager role and unit in London. In 2006 Peter was seconded to the Specialist Crime Review Group as forensic advisor and was responsible for the forensic review of numerous unsolved murder investigations. From 2010, as lead Forensic Auditor, Peter conducted strategic reviews relating to forensic policy, service delivery, compliance, and quality assurance.
During his time with the Metropolitan Police Service Peter developed a wide range of forensic knowledge, skills, and experience both at operational practitioner and senior management level.
Peter is currently Director of a training company and a technical assessor for both CSFS and UKAS.
CSFS Background
Peter was previously Honorary Treasurer of the CSFS and is currently a technical assessor for both the Certificate in Competence and the Educational Accreditation scheme.
