Professional Background
Mark joined West Yorkshire Metropolitan Police in 1985 working predominantly in roads policing. He has been involved in all levels of fatal and serious injury in collision investigation, serving in all roles from Investigating Office (IO) Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) and Family Liaison Officer (FLO).
Mark was awarded a Level 3 City and Guilds A1 assessors award in November 2008.
In 2011 Mark became the training coordinator for a national policing body and devised and oversaw their competency assessment framework.
In June 2017 Mark became a Forensic Collision Investigator (FCI) with Regional Scientific Support Services (Yorkshire and The Humber) where he has attended and given expert witness evidence at Crown, Magistrates and Coroner's courts on many occasions.

Mark became a Professional Member of the Society in 2018, as well as his work as a FCI, Mark sits on a working group set up to scope, develop and implement a Certificate of Competence for FCI's, he also sits on a working group set up to determine the training and assessment requirements of an upcoming FCI degree level apprenticeship scheme.
