Professional Background
After a single year of postdoctoral fellowship Jeremy took up his first teaching post in the Department of Biochemistry at The University of Edinburgh and developed a research programme in biophysical studies of membrane-active peptides. He has published over a hundred papers, articles and reports, mostly based on research carried out at large-sale international facilities, such as ISIS at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, the Institut Laue et Langevin in France and KEK in Japan. He currently hold guest appointments at a number of these facilities worldwide, has held a visiting professorship at Fuzhou University China, and currently holds one at Tsukuba University, Japan and another at Zhejiang University, China.
In 2003 he was appointed to the post of Director of Research and Graduate Studies at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, and in 2007 became the Head of the Graduate School of the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, a post he held for two years.
From 2009 to 2013, he was Director of Postgraduate Studies for the College and became International Dean and Director of Quality Assurance at the same time. He became Assistant Principal (Researcher Development) in 2013. Jeremy is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and, formerly, chaired its Biomedical Sciences Committee. He has been a QAA reviewer since October 2010 and has conducted reviews in England and Scotland. He has also conducted a number of transnational education reviews for QAA, and is a reviewer for the University Grants Committee of Hong Kong Quality Assurance Council, the Academic Quality Agency for New Zealand Universities, and the Quality Enhancement Framework for Icelandic Higher Education.

Jeremy has been chairing accreditation panels since the launch of the Accreditation Scheme in 2005. As a member of the Accreditation Sub-Committee he was involved in the launch of the Recognition Scheme.
