Professional Background
Mike has over twenty-four years’ experience in forensic science and seventeen years undertaking crime scene investigation concerning volume crime, major crime, counter terrorist activities and crimes against humanity. Mike has worked for three UK police forces, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL), the Special Anti-Crime unit of Trinidad and Tobago, the United Nations, and the former Forensic Science Service. Mike has also undertaken numerous short and modular courses for a number of Universities.
Current activities include running crime scene investigation and crime scene management courses for UK Police forces as part of Cranfield Universities Forensic Institute (CFI). Fingerprint and DNA exploitation on terrorist materiale for DSTL Fort Halstead, and acting as the Forensic Coordinator for the Kosovo Special Prosecutors office, based in The Hague. Mike has also been involved in OP Northleigh the Grenfell Tower investigation.
Mike started his forensic career in accident investigation working initially in the United States in 1998, working with Hertfordshire constabulary as part of his undergraduate degree in1993 and later being a trainee Reporting officer as an accident investigator in the former Forensic Science service.
CSFS Background
Mike has been a Professional Member since 1999 and was formally appointed as an approved assessor for the CSFS in September 2017.
