Following the grant of the Royal Charter, and in line with our Strategy, our aim is to forge greater links with other organisations within forensic science and related fields. We are now moving towards becoming an umbrella organisation for a wide range of forensic and related disciplines, working closely together towards a more joined up approach and supporting niche areas to ensure the diversity of forensic science within the UK and beyond.
Through this collaborative path we believe we can offer those within forensic science a wider representation on national bodies and a coordinated approach to education, training and competence. Smaller, niche organisations and bodies can take advantage of shared resources and work in partnership with the Society on large multi disciplinary projects.
In addition organisations under the Society umbrella will have access to the full range of CSFS benefits including our four publications as well as access to free and reduced rate events. Organisations under the CSFS umbrella will also enjoy increased visibility through the CSFS website. Each organisation has its own page to communicate news and information to its members.
As the numbers of divisions grows we are keen that each groups has an input into the CSFS Strategy. CSFS staff support the Divisional Chairs to pull together specific divisional content including targeted events and website content, going forward the aim is to structure engagement to enable the divisions to grow.
Each Divisional Chair is paired with a member of Council and/or Staff to liase with them to ensure key issues are raised at Council in a timely manner. There will be a Chairs discussion forum in the Autumn where the three divisions will look at how they may be able to work together more effectively. The Chairs are also invited to the CSFS annual Business Development meeting. This meeting is held in November each year and it is an opportunity for the Staff, Council members and Divisions to all have their say in shaping the focus of the Society in the future.
