Professional Background
Colin joined Warwickshire Police in 1998 at 32, following 18 years in retail management. He joined the Roads Policing Unit in 2002, which saw him attending and reporting on various types of Road Traffic Collisions.
In 2006 Colin became a full-time member of the Collision Investigation Unit and currently has the experience of investigating an average in-excess of 30 Fatal and Serious collisions a year.
These investigations have resulted in regular attendance and giving evidence at Coroner's and Crown Courts for both criminal and more recently civil cases. Colin has also been involved in evidence gathering and reporting on cases for the Major Investigations Unit (murder and a shooting) and Industrial Accidents for Health and Safety Executive.
Colin has been a pioneer within Warwickshire Police for 3D Laser Scanning and the use of NCTech's 360 panoramic iSTAR camera. Both systems enable high-speed capture at collision and crime scenes. Using proprietary software, Colin was the first person in the country to present iSTAR images in Crown Court.
In October 2015 Colin received a Chief Constables Commendation for his investigation into a fatal collision resulting in the driver being given 8 years for Death by Careless Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
Colin is a member of the International Association of Forensic and Security Metrology.
